Coram Deo

Battery Hand Out

Rob testing the batteries
Coram Deo hit the streets of Double Diamond, a Southeast neighborhood of Reno, to hand out free 9 volt batteries. The day began with coffee and fresh cinnamon muffins at the Meek’s to get our bodies ready for 2 hours of walking the streets of our local neighborhood. Jose prayed for our conversations and the people we would meet and we were off into three teams.

Macy with our battery of love“Why are you giving me a battery?”
“When you change your clocks for Day Light Savings, it’s a great time to change your smoke alarm battery.”
“What do you want?”
“It’s free, totally free! And here is a home check list with other things you may want to do this fall.”
“Did you say free?”
“Yep.”

The conversation above happened many times. “As many times as we go out into our community, I’m still suprised by the reaction we get when we give something for free,” said Steve, a Coram Deo-ite and also a resident of the Double Diamond neighborhood.

Allthough, a few houses rejected the free gift, all three teams came back smiling and laughing. Getting to know each other is just one of the many perks of Servant Evangelism and if you haven’t experienced it, come out and join us!
