Recap: Helping Evelyn Mount

175 bags of groceries going to seniors in the Reno area.

Coram Deo Helps Evelyn Mount

For understandable reasons the full serving force of the church couldn’t come out to give Evelyn Mount a hand. Those of us who were available on a Thursday morning headed out to Mrs. Mount’s home and worked in her garage for a couple of hours. As we worked she would receive phone calls requesting food assistance. This month it ran about 200 requests. We were able to help pack around 170 bags of food packed for the senior citizens of Reno.

Bob, a faithful and hard worker.

A Single Faithful Worker

Bob, a retired gentleman from Washington, told us what to do while he replenished the shelves with groceries from the “warehouse” in the backyard. The warehouse is a large shed next to a large walk-in freezer. Bob dropped by last Thanksgiving to give a generous donation to Mrs. Mount, who asked if he had some free time. He’s been working there ever since. Many times it’s just him each month packing groceries. Bob’s wife sometimes answers the phone.

Mrs. Mount Assists Seniors Each Month

Mrs. Mount told us that during the year she concentrates on helping the seniors of Reno, but during the holidays she gives to families who want some holiday groceries. Mary Jo from church said she enjoys this kind of servant evangelism best. She plans on coming out every month, maybe inviting friends to join her.

How You Can Help

If you’re free during the day around the 23 of each month, Evelyn Mount and Bob could really use the help. (Next month it will be May 22 in the morning). Otherwise, she takes food donations all year round. Call her for more details. It seems best to call her in the morning.
