Recap: Alex’s Lemonade Stand 2008

Carly and Megan serving up lemonade

Did you see us on KRNV news? Did you catch our insert in the Reno-Gazette Journal? What you didn’t hear is that we raised over $1500 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand to help fund the fight against childhood cancer. Hurray for Abby Morton who organized the event. It was her idea and her passion to live out what it means to follow Jesus that made it happen.

A Grateful Mother

We met Candace who has a young son with neuroblastoma, the same kind of cancer Alex had. She talked with us for some time and thanked us for our efforts. Pete, one of our expert sign-wavers, said that he thought it was good to not wait until we have cancer to help those who do.

Besides the lemonade, we had a raffle to raise money. We still have a few Alex’s Lemonade commemorative shirts (designed by Abby Morton) for $10. Most of that money goes right to the foundation.

We also have a pass for indoor rock climbing at RockSport. If you’re interested, let us know.

Tell Us Your Stories

Were you at the Lemonade Stand? Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear your comments on this event.

Abby and Sarah flagging down cars... by being weird.

Crystal painting something girly on Amanda's face.

The Fletcher family ready to serve in their super-cool t-shirts.

Our Service Pastor doing his best Clint Eastwood. We're not impressed.

Noah and Luke taking a breather in the shade.

Lauren and Lanie, hardcore sign-wavers.

Susan doesn't mind if you suck in a bit of the helium. Just leave enough for the balloons.
