Get Your Own Secure Fundraising Page
Signing up is pretty intuitive. But if you need it, here are step-by-step instructions on how you can get your own fundraising page to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
You can also get nice little widget for your MySpace account or Facebook or blog or other website.
- Go to the First Giving website. <www.firstgiving.org>
- Click “Start Fundraising.” It’s the orange button in the middle of home page.
- What kind of fundraising page are you making?
- Memorial – maybe someone you know died of cancer or you know a family that lost a child or just someone special to you that you want to honor.
- Celebrate your birthday – or other occasion by giving up gifts and taking donations instead. Dave does that every year at Christmas.
- Use your imagination – everything else.
- Find a non-profit. You’re looking for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, of course. Enter that into the “Keyword” box. Click on Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
- Enter a valid email address.
- Enter your details.
- Choose a web address. It’ll be something like www.alexslemonade.org/MYNAME.
- Personalize your page..
- Set a donation target. It doesn’t have to be huge; it just has to be something.
- Personal message. If you’re stuck you can write about why you are supporting Alex’s Lemonade. Or tell them why you think Alex’s Lemonade is worthy of support. Keep it short and simple.
- Get the widget for your social network account or other website. Find it in your account under “Your fundraising pages” under “Share your page.” Cut and paste the code.
