From Pastor Dawson:
Hello Coram Deoites,
This past Sunday we were covering Genesis 46-47. What an incredible section of Scripture coming off the heels of Genesis 45 where Joseph makes himself known to his brothers and does two things for them: (1) forgives them, and (2) provides for them. What a beautiful picture of Jesus!
Forgiving One Another
I had mentioned in my sermon that when we forgive another person it’s at that moment that we look the most like Jesus Christ. I know that as Christians we have plenty of good feeling moments, and we talk a lot about “being like Christ,” and we spend time at church, and we read our Bibles, and we pray, but where the rubber meets the road is during those hard moments where we want to be selfish and mean and get even with others, but instead we choose to love and forgive like Christ did for us.
Let me also add: we need to forgive others, but that doesn’t always mean that we can reconcile with them. Forgiveness and reconciliation are two different things. [continue reading »]

We’re moving locations to Depoali Middle School. It’s just a mile down the road. It’s a bigger facility for the main service and the children’s ministry. We’ll be able to stay there for a few more years which will help us keep to our value of ministry over mortgages.

We had about dozen walkers showing our support for the health of babies. We also raised money for the March of Dimes. Our final total was over a $1000 raised for the prevention of birth defects.
We also had a couple of walkers who weren’t from Coram Deo. One of the benefits of serving out in our community to building on our relationships with those in the community. Great work church!

UPDATE: This has been canceled because of Walmart policy regarding giving out food. We’ll regroup and do something else next month. Otherwise you could still participate in the Gospel Mission as a server or cook.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a warm cup of coffee now that weather is finally turning wintery. We’ll be giving away coffee and cocoa (no donations please) in front of a Wal-Mart.
Most people can buy their own coffee, but how many times does someone offer you something for nothing? We’re trying to create an environment for conversation to happen; we want to cultivate Coram Deo’s relationship with the community.
Check out a past Coffee/Cocoa Give-away.

They have two main programs you might be interested helping with.
- No Sandwich Left Behind – where they make sandwiches and go out to give them all away.
- A Bag Full of Hope – where they provide groceries to a several families
